Antonia is a PhD-researcher in the School of Information, Journalism and Communication at the University of Sheffield.
She graduated from UCL with an MSc in Global Governance and Ethics in 2023, and also holds an LLM in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from Aberystwyth University. In addition, she has a Certificate in International Law and Organizations from American University in Washington DC, and a BA in Linguistics from University of Oslo.
On several occasions, Antonia has worked as a journalist, photographer and videographer in the local newspaper Dalane Tidende in Southern Norway. Here she covered politics and election campaigns, business and energy industry developments, and portrait interviews mainly addressing LGBTQ-issues and women’s life stories. Through her journalism, Antonia has interviewed former Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, as well as several other party leaders and high-profile politicians.
In 2024 she participated in the Safety Matters project at Oslo Metropolitan University, where she worked alongside other postgraduate researchers to address global threats to journalism. In 2024 she also presented her own independent research project on the European Media Freedom Act at the Annual Conference on the Safety of Journalists in Oslo.
Antonia’s academic interests lie in media law and the legal protections afforded to journalists. Her PhD-project is on the legal protections of journalists under International Humanitarian Law in light of the increased direct attacks on media workers in contemporary armed conflict.
